Description
The Panasonic AU-EVA1 Compact 5.7K Super 35 mm Cinema Camera utilizes a high-resolution 5.7K image sensor to render smooth 4K images. Panasonic's AU-EVA1 is a flexible camera system ideal for documentary, cinematic, and live event production. The 5.7K sensor is used for oversampling the internal recording, which results in images with higher resolution and less noise compared to non-oversampled recording.

Cinema Image Quality
Since single-chip sensors utilize a Bayer pattern color filter array to capture RGB color information, the camera must rely on limited color and resolution data to interpolate a full 4K RGB image. This process can lead to a loss of resolution and color fidelity. To deliver a complete 4K image while maintaining excellent dynamic range, a 5.7K Bayer pattern sensor is required.
5.7K Resolution
The VA1 is equipped with a 5.7K Super 35 (24.6mm x 12.97mm) sensor, its total pixel count of 5720 × 3016 exceeds 17.25 million, which is approximately double the 8.8 million pixels of 4K DCI (4096 x 2160).This higher native resolution of the 5.7K sensor allows for down-conversion to yield higher-resolution 4K/UHD/2K/720p images.Furthermore, the richer color information results in finer and more accurate image rendition.
14 Stops of Dynamic Range
Dynamic range measures the range of luminance a digital camera can capture. The EVA1 offers 14 stops of dynamic range, which allows for subtle gradations in the image from highlights to shadows during exposure.
